Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 30 September 2026 Provider: Chapple Property Services Ltd Governing law: England & Wales

01 Agreement to these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Chapple Property Services Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England & Wales (registered office: 7-8 Crescent Stables, 139 Upper Richmond Road, London, SW15 2TN), governing your use of the EmailOwl apps for iPhone, Mac and Windows (the “Service”). By downloading, accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Your use of the iPhone and Mac apps is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies to apps distributed via the App Store. Where these Terms conflict with Apple's standard EULA, the provisions more protective of you apply. The Windows companion is not distributed by Apple and Apple's EULA does not apply to it; these Terms govern it in full.

02 Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using it, you confirm you meet these requirements.

03 What the Service does

EmailOwl reads your connected mailboxes and maintains a prioritised task board — surfacing what may need your attention, drafting suggested replies, and keeping a per-project memory. It is a productivity aid, not a system of record. It runs on iPhone and Mac, with a companion Windows app that works alongside them.

ImportantThe Service uses AI and may miss, misclassify, or misdate items, or generate inaccurate drafts. You must not rely on it as your sole means of tracking important, time-sensitive or legal obligations. Always verify against your actual email. We are not responsible for missed deadlines or actions taken in reliance on the Service. Drafts are suggestions produced by third-party AI, and you send them — read before you send (§10).

04 Anthropic requirements & costs you pay directly

The AI runs in your own Anthropic environment, so each plan has a prerequisite you obtain and pay for directly from Anthropic — these costs are separate from your EmailOwl subscription and are not paid to us:

Where drafting runs through Apple Intelligence (Connected, on iPhone or Mac), it is provided by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy, which govern your use of it, and costs you nothing extra. Drafting with the Anthropic API always uses your own key, on either plan and on any device, and is billed to you by Anthropic. EmailOwl does not provide drafting from an Anthropic account of its own.

You are responsible for complying with Anthropic's terms and for all charges Anthropic bills you. We do not control, and are not responsible for, Anthropic's pricing, availability, routine limits, or data practices, which may change.

05 Subscriptions, free trial & billing

EmailOwl is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, sold through the App Store and managed by Apple:

PlanMonthlyAnnual
Connected£4.99£49.99 (~15% saving)
Private£9.99£99.99 (~15% saving)

One subscription covers your use of the Service across your devices, including the companion Windows app; the Windows companion requires an active subscription and is not sold separately.

06 Third-party services & no affiliation

The Service connects to and depends on third parties including Anthropic (Claude / API), Apple (App Store distribution and Apple Intelligence drafting), Google (Gmail and Google Workspace) and Microsoft (Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. EmailOwl is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We are not responsible for third-party services' availability, changes or acts.

07 Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully or to process data you have no right to access; attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload or breach the security of the Service or our relay; resell or commercially exploit the Service without our permission; or use it to violate the terms of Anthropic, Apple, Google or Microsoft. You are responsible for the mailboxes you connect and for keeping your dashboard restore code secure.

Other people's data, and family details. You are responsible for having the right to connect each mailbox you connect and to enter the details you enter — including, where you use the family feature, having parental responsibility for any child whose name, school year, school or clubs you enter, and the right to share those details with a second parent you link.

Forwarding. If you forward mail from another provider into a mailbox we support, you configure that forwarding at your own provider and are responsible for it, including compliance with any employer or organisational policy. Microsoft 365 blocks auto-forwarding by default and Google Workspace administrators can disable it.

Content you generate or send. You must not use the Service to produce, store or send content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or otherwise abusive or inappropriate, or that infringes anyone's rights. We do not consent to, authorise or condone any such use, whether the words originate with you or with an AI draft you choose to send. You are the author and sender of everything that leaves your mailbox. We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe this clause has been breached, and we accept no liability whatsoever for content created or sent through the Service.

08 Beta / TestFlight

Pre-release softwareEmailOwl is currently distributed as a TestFlight beta. It is provided “as is” and may contain bugs, change, lose data, or be discontinued without notice. Apple's TestFlight terms also apply. Do not rely on beta builds for critical workflows, and keep your own records.

09 Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, the “EmailOwl” name and neon wordmark, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Chapple Property Services Ltd and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own purposes under these Terms. Your content remains yours — your emails, task board and memory belong to you; we claim no ownership over them and use them only to provide the Service.

10 Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that the AI's triage, prioritisation, deadlines or drafted replies are accurate or complete. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Content produced by AI, including third parties' AI

Drafts, summaries, titles, deadlines and other text the Service shows you are generated by artificial intelligence supplied by third parties — currently Apple (Apple Intelligence) and Anthropic (Claude and the Anthropic API), and potentially other providers in future — operating in your own account or on your own device. We do not write, review, moderate, approve or control that output, and it is not our speech. AI output can be wrong, out of date, misleading, offensive, defamatory or infringing without any intention on anyone's part. You are solely responsible for reading anything before you rely on it or send it, and we accept no responsibility or liability of any kind for AI-generated content or for anything that follows from it. This applies equally to output from any third-party model, whether or not named here.

Sending on your behalf

Where you instruct the Service to send, reply to or forward a message, it does so from the mailbox you connected and pre-selected, as you. You are the sender in law and in fact. You are responsible for the recipients, the content, the timing, any attachment or quoted material carried with it, and every consequence — including disclosure of confidential information, contractual effect, offence caused, regulatory or employment consequences, and anything sent in error or to the wrong person. To the fullest extent permitted by law we have zero liability for the sending of any message through the Service.

Third-party charges

Anthropic, Apple and your mailbox providers bill you under their own agreements with you. We are not responsible for any charge you incur with them — including Anthropic API token usage, credit that runs out mid-run, rate limits, plan or price changes, overage, currency or tax treatment — whether or not that usage was triggered by the Service, by a scheduled routine, or by a retry. We do not receive those payments, cannot refund them, and accept no liability for them or for any loss arising from them. Monitor your own Anthropic usage and set your own spend limits.

11 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or missed deadlines or opportunities, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or £50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Without limiting the above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we have no liability for: (a) content generated by any third-party AI, including Apple Intelligence and the Anthropic API; (b) any message sent, replied to or forwarded through the Service from your own mailbox, and its consequences; (c) charges billed to you by Anthropic, Apple or any mailbox provider; (d) the acts, omissions, outages, model changes, moderation decisions or data practices of those third parties; and (e) any unlawful, offensive or inappropriate content created or sent through the Service; and (f) the privacy, security or processing of your data by Apple Intelligence, for any reason — you use it under Apple's own terms and privacy policy, and Apple, not us, is responsible for it. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer.

12 Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time via the App Store. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your licence ends; your stored data is retained and then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy (§7), and you may request immediate deletion.

13 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version with a new date and, for material changes, notify you in-app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

What changed in v1.4 (30 September 2026). Removed the approximate per-plan run counts for Connected from §4. The app now recommends a schedule for your Claude plan on its Schedule screen. Nothing else has changed.

What changed in v1.3 (24 September 2026). Corrected the drafting routes: on Connected, iPhone and Mac offer Apple Intelligence or the Anthropic API; Private and the Windows companion always use the Anthropic API. Stated that Anthropic drafting always uses your own key and is billed to you (§4, §5), and that Apple Intelligence is used under Apple's terms and privacy policy, with our liability for its processing of your data excluded (§4, §11).

What changed in v1.2 (18 September 2026). Corrected the annual prices in §5 to the prices actually charged by the App Store — Connected £49.99 and Private £99.99 a year — and restated the annual saving as ~15%. The monthly prices, the 7-day free trial and every other term are unchanged.

What changed in v1.1 (2 September 2026). Added the companion Windows app and stated that Apple's EULA does not apply to it (§1, §3, §5); set out the Anthropic API key and metered drafting requirement for Connected on Windows, and Apple Intelligence drafting on iPhone and Mac (§4, §6); added responsibility for other people's data, family details and forwarding (§7); prohibited unlawful, obscene or otherwise inappropriate content and recorded that we do not consent to it (§7); and disclaimed responsibility for third-party AI output, for messages sent from your own mailbox, and for charges billed to you by Anthropic, Apple or your mailbox provider (§10, §11).

14 Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you benefit from any mandatory protections of your home jurisdiction.
